Austria Introduces New Vignette, 10-Day Pass Price Also Changes
11/28/2023

The new one-day vignette makes less sense for tourists who want to spend several days in Austria.
The Austrian government has decided to introduce an additional one-day vignette for motorways and expressways from December 1.
It costs 8.60 euros and is available only in digital form. In addition, the 10-day vignette is becoming more expensive, from the current 9.90 to 11.50 euros.
New prices:
- One-day vignette – 8.60 euros
- 10-day vignette – 11.50 euros (previously: 9.90 euros)
- Two-month vignette – 28.90 euros (previously: 29 euros)
- Annual vignette – 96.40 euros (price unchanged)
The new one-day vignette is particularly suitable for travelers in transit: Anyone driving on motorways through Austria, for example to Italy or Slovenia, will save money from December onward – at least if their holiday does not last longer than ten days. Instead of two 10-day vignettes for a total of 23 euros, only two one-day vignettes are needed for 17.20 euros. The savings are therefore 5.80 euros, writes Fenix magazin.
Day-trippers also benefit: compared with the previously mandatory 10-day vignette, the new vignette will be 2.90 euros cheaper for them.
The new one-day vignette makes less sense for tourists who want to spend several days in Austria. In that case, they cannot avoid the more expensive 10-day vignette.
