Average Croatian Salary Revealed

The Croatian Bureau of Statistics published a statement stating that the average Croatian net salary in March amounted to 1,448 euros.

Compared to the same month last year, this is nominally 9.2 percent higher and really 5.8 percent higher. Nominal growth shows how much salaries have increased regardless of inflation, while real growth also takes price increases into account, thus better reflecting actual purchasing power.

Compared to February, the average net salary in March was nominally 2.3 percent higher and really 1.9 percent higher. The highest average net salaries were paid in the broadcasting activity (3,469 euros), and the lowest in clothing manufacturing (927 euros).

The median net salary for March amounted to 1,200 euros, which means that half of employees had a lower salary and half had a higher salary than that amount. Compared to February, the median salary increased by 2.1 percent, and on an annual basis by 10.5 percent.

The average gross salary in March amounted to 2,014 euros, which is nominally 9.8 percent and really 6.4 percent higher than a year earlier. The highest gross salary was also in broadcasting, and the lowest in clothing manufacturing.

In the first three months of this year, the average net salary amounted to 1,418 euros, and the gross salary 1,968 euros. Both recorded double-digit nominal and real growth compared to last year.
