Datalab in Slovenia Pays Employees Record Bonus, Christmas Bonus and Profit Share of Around €14,600 Gross
12/12/2025

As the end of the year approaches, the Slovenian IT company Datalab is once again in the public spotlight thanks to exceptionally high rewards for its employees. In the region, they are known for generous payouts that far exceed the usual amounts of Christmas bonuses and rewards.
In recent years, Datalab has regularly pleasantly surprised us. Last year, the company paid out just under 5,000 euros gross, and this year it will almost triple the amount. Approximately 80 employees will be able to enjoy an incredible 14,600 euros gross Christmas bonus, which also includes a tax-free winter bonus, writes Slovenian 24ur. This average reward, which combines a Christmas bonus and profit sharing, represents one of the highest payouts of its kind in Slovenian business history.
Mandatory Christmas bonus in Slovenia comes into effect
Datalab's generous rewards come at a time when the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has officially confirmed a new law on the mandatory payment of a winter allowance, which further contributes to the financial stability of employees in the country. The government's decision is the result of an agreement with the unions reached earlier this week.
All employees in Slovenia will receive a mandatory allowance this year in the amount of half the minimum wage, which amounts to 639 euros. The deadline for payment of this amount is defined as no later than eighteen days after the expiry of the deadline for payment of the November salary. Companies facing liquidity difficulties have the option of postponing payment of this legally prescribed amount until March 31 of next year. The legal definition of a minimum Christmas bonus aims to ensure a basic financial injection for all employees ahead of the holidays.
Although the legally mandatory Christmas bonus ensures a minimum standard for all workers in Slovenia, Datalab's example clearly shows how exceptionally successful business operations and profit sharing with workers can create extraordinary motivation and loyalty. Their reward policy sets a high standard in the region, signaling that investing in employees, especially in the IT sector, is key to achieving record business results. This trend also serves as a reminder to other companies of the importance of adequate rewards for exceptional contributions.
