Many of these companies are known beyond Europe's borders as well, and offer employees not only high salaries, but also numerous additional benefits, writes Fenix Magazin.

10. Novartis

The Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis AG employs around 104,000 people worldwide, and has ten branches in Germany. The average annual salary is 81,057 euros. The company is focused on the development of innovative medicines and generics.

9. Merck KGaA

The German chemical-pharmaceutical company headquartered in Darmstadt employs 58,000 people in 66 countries. The average annual salary is 81,440 euros, and the main sectors are healthcare, life sciences, and electronics.

8. Microsoft

The American technology giant is known for its high salary levels and global influence. In Germany, employees earn an average of 82,070 euros per year.

7. Salesforce

Specialized in cloud-computing and CRM solutions, Salesforce employs around 49,000 people, and the average annual salary in Germany amounts to 83,277 euros.

6. Sanofi

The French pharmaceutical company with more than 100,000 employees and its largest facility in Frankfurt am Main pays employees in Germany an average of 85,000 euros per year.

5. BCG Platinion

The Boston Consulting Group subsidiary specialized in IT strategies has more than 750 employees, and the average annual salary in Germany is 87,000 euros.

4. Porsche Consulting

The consulting company owned by Porsche has 12 offices and 670 employees. The average annual salary amounts to 87,682 euros.

3. Kearney

The international consulting company with more than 3,600 employees and 60 offices worldwide offers an average annual salary of 91,061 euros in Germany.

2. Nokia

The Finnish telecommunications giant has more than 98,000 employees in 130 countries. In Germany, the average annual salary amounts to 96,620 euros.

1. Bain & Company

At the top of the ranking is the Boston-based consulting company Bain & Company, specialized in strategic consulting. Employees in Germany earn an average of as much as 100,048 euros per year, making this company the most generous employer on the German market.

What do the best-paying employers have in common?

Interestingly, among the top five there are as many as four consulting companies, while the financial sector is not represented on this list. The reason for this may be that bonuses and premiums were not included in the calculation of average salaries. Also, the average annual salary in Germany is around 51,876 euros, so employees at these companies earn even twice as much as the national average
