What’s Next for Studenac? CEO Reveals the Plans

Studenac, after closing some stores and reducing the number of employees, is trying to cut costs and secure money to continue operations.

Management Board President Teo Vujčić stated that the implemented changes bring annual savings of 33 million euros. As reported by N1, with additional measures from 2027, total annual savings of 41 million euros are expected.

Some workers are moving to nearby stores

The changes affect 380 jobs in stores and wholesale, but that does not mean that all those employees were laid off. Most workers from the closed stores continue to work in branches in the immediate vicinity. In administration, the number of employees was reduced by 185, or approximately 40%. The largest individual saving, 16.3 million euros annually, comes from changes in logistics, that is, the organization of store supply.

New financing expected in December

Studenac is in talks with lenders and potential investors to secure funds to settle obligations and ensure more stable operations. A new payment through temporary financing is expected in December 2026. Full refinancing, that is, a new agreement on financing existing obligations, and an agreement with creditors are planned between February and April 2027.

Savings are the beginning of recovery

Pre-bankruptcy proceedings over Studenac were opened on September 29, and the Management Board presents the implemented changes as the foundation for a restructuring plan. Cost reduction is one step in that process. The company still faces securing new financing and reaching an agreement with creditors.
