Workers in Germany to Receive €300 Bonus from Autumn

GERMAN workers will receive a one-time bonus of 300 euros from September as assistance due to rising energy costs. Reuters writes that the federal government has decided, among other things, to introduce a uniform energy price in order to mitigate the sharp increase in prices.

“The flat-rate energy price amount (EPP) of 300 euros is intended to relieve those population groups that usually bear travel costs and that are heavily burdened in this regard due to current energy price developments”, states the explanation of the Federal Administration of the Ministry of Finance, reports Fenix-Magazin.

Agriculture and forestry workers are also entitled to 300 euros

In addition to the self-employed and employees, those who work mini-jobs as well as temporary workers in agriculture and forestry are also entitled to 300 euros. The only condition is that the work activity must take place for at least one day in 2022.

“The activity does not have to be carried out at a specific time or for a minimum period”, state the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The employer makes the payment only if the worker confirms that this is their first employment relationship

What does this mean for pensioners? If they accepted a job this year, they will also receive the 300-euro energy flat rate. But the employer may make the payment only if the worker has confirmed in writing before payment that this is their first employment relationship.

This should be the case for most older people who do small jobs.
