Average Croatian Salary for August 2026 Revealed: €1,543 Net

The average net salary in Croatia for August 2026 amounted to 1,543 euros.

But half of the employees covered by the statistics received at most 1,336 euros. The data was published on 21 October by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, and refers to employees in legal entities, including companies and public services.

Why is the average higher than what many people receive?

The median net salary amounted to 1,336 euros, or 207 euros less than the average. The median is obtained when salaries are arranged from lowest to highest and the middle is found. Half of employees receive that amount or less, and half receive that amount or more. High salaries raise the average, so it does not show how much most employees earn.

More detailed data shows that 60% of employees received at most 1,497 euros net, therefore less than the published average. A quarter received at most 1,019 euros. Therefore, a worker whose account receives 1,000 euros per month is not just slightly below average, but is among the lower-paid quarter of the employees covered.

Salary slightly higher, but purchasing power lower

Compared with July, the average net salary increased by 0.2%, but after taking price growth into account it actually fell by 0.2%. Simply put, the average salary was slightly higher, but it could buy slightly less. The median net salary simultaneously fell by 0.7%.

A comparison with August 2025 still shows improvement. The average net salary increased by 6.7%, and when price increases are taken into account, the growth amounts to 2.4%. Part of the increase was thus consumed by higher prices, but average purchasing power was still higher than a year earlier.

2,483 euros in air transport, 979 in clothing manufacturing

The highest average net salary was recorded in air transport and amounted to 2,483 euros, and the lowest in clothing manufacturing, 979 euros. The difference is 1,504 euros per month. These are averages for individual activities, so they do not mean that every employee in them receives the stated amount.

The latest figures confirm annual salary growth, but also large differences among employees. At the same time, the statistics do not cover employees in trades and liberal professions, nor insured farmers. To understand earnings, therefore, alongside the average of 1,543 euros one should also look at the median, half of the employees covered remained at at most 1,336 euros net
