Average Salary in Croatia 7,690 Kuna: Here’s Where You Can Earn More Than 12,000

Compared with the gross salary for April 2022, it was nominally higher by 1.9 percent and in real terms by 0.5 percent.

The average monthly paid net salary per employee in legal entities in Croatia amounted to 7,690 kuna in May, which is nominally 8.2 percent higher and in real terms 2.3 percent lower compared with the same month last year, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), published on Wednesday.

Compared with the salary for April this year, the average net salary for May was nominally higher by 1.9 percent and in real terms by 0.5 percent.

The real decline in salaries on an annual basis is a consequence of high inflation, which in recent months has been above 10 percent, its highest level since DZS has been tracking inflation data.

The median net salary for May amounted to 6,490 kuna, which means that half of employees had a lower salary and half had a higher salary than that amount.

The highest average monthly paid net salary per employee in legal entities for May was paid in the air transport activity, in the amount of 12,202 kuna, while the lowest was paid in security and investigation activities, 4,905 kuna.

DZS data show that the average monthly gross salary for May this year amounted to 10,440 kuna, which compared with the same month last year is nominally 9.3 percent higher and in real terms 1.4 percent lower.

Compared with the gross salary for April 2022, it was nominally higher by 1.9 percent and in real terms by 0.5 percent.

The highest average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities for May was in the crude oil and natural gas extraction activity, in the amount of 17,889 kuna, while the lowest was paid in clothing manufacturing, 6,309 kuna.

For the period from January to May 2022, the average monthly paid net salary per employee in legal entities in Croatia amounted to 7,538 kuna, which compared with the same period in 2021 is nominally 6.6 percent higher and in real terms 1.2 percent lower.

The average monthly paid net salary per hour for May this year amounted to 43.01 kuna, which is 2.7 percent lower compared with April, and compared with May last year an increase of 3.5 percent.

In May there were an average of 175 paid hours, which is an increase of 4.8 percent compared with April. The highest number of paid hours was in the healthcare activity, 190, and the lowest number of paid hours in social care activities without accommodation, 159.
