Tire manufacturer Goodyear is planning major job cuts at the Fulda factory, company spokesperson Dominic Stenzel confirmed.

Approximately 550 of 1,150 jobs are to be eliminated.

It is a difficult but necessary decision that must be made in order to reduce structural costs and improve the competitive position, the statement says. The “Fulda” tire brand will be retained.

Exactly how the 550 jobs will be eliminated still has to be clarified with the works council. More than 1,000 jobs were already cut at Goodyear in Fulda and Hanau in 2019.
