Germany Faces Highest Demand for Skilled Workers in 10 Years

BERLIN - Almost half of the jobs for skilled workers in German companies remained vacant during the past year, according to data from Germany's Employment Agency. The need for skilled workers in this country is the highest in the last ten years.
Jobs for skilled workers in 45 percent of all companies remained vacant. This percentage is 62 percent in small companies, while in large companies it is 24 percent.
The biggest shortage of skilled workers is in the construction industry, in which almost two-thirds of jobs were not filled. It is precisely in the construction industry that there is high demand for skilled workers.
Numerous jobs also remained vacant in the hospitality and accommodation sector. In public administration, jobs for skilled workers are the least vacant.
Ten years ago in Germany, 28 percent of jobs for skilled workers were vacant, reports the portal tagesschau.
