Major German Company Announces Layoffs: 30,000 Jobs to Be Cut
07/27/2024

Due to major financial losses, Deutsche Bahn plans to lay off 30,000 workers, or about nine percent of its workforce.
The decision came after Deutsche Bahn recorded a loss of 1.2 billion euros in the first half of 2024, writes Fenix.
“Strikes, extreme weather conditions, construction sites, and weak demand for DB services significantly worsened the group's financial result compared to the previous year,” German Railways announced.
The company, which employs a large number of Croats, wants to respond to the poor balance sheet by cutting jobs.
“A total of around 30,000 full-time jobs will be cut over the next five years,” said Deutsche Bahn's chief financial officer Levin Holle.
Around 1,500 jobs are planned to be cut this year, mostly in administration.
