The boycott of stores, which attracted significant public attention at the beginning of last year, is now hardly mentioned anymore.

Retail trade continued to grow in July, and turnover was higher both compared to June and compared to the same month last year.

According to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, real retail turnover increased by 3.6 percent compared to July 2025. This is growth excluding the impact of price changes, which means the result is not solely a consequence of inflation.

Turnover in non-food products increased the most, by 4.5 percent. Turnover in food, beverages, and tobacco products rose by 3.9 percent, while sales of motor fuels and lubricants fell by 2.8 percent.

The CBS points out that 'the increase continued for the 40th consecutive month on an annual basis'. In the first seven months of this year, turnover was 2.2 percent higher in real terms than in the same period last year, so the official data show that the boycott of stores did not leave a more lasting mark on consumption.
