Next year, only one public holiday in Germany falls on a weekend, which leaves plenty of room for anyone who wants to go on a long weekend
Workers in Germany could next year, if they properly arrange their schedule, get as many as 58 days off from 27 days of annual leave, thanks to public holidays that mostly fall on weekdays. As reported by Fenix Magazin, next year only one public holiday in that country falls on a weekend, which leaves plenty of room for anyone who wants to go on a long weekend.
As early as January, New Year's Day will fall on a Monday, which means that with four days of annual leave one can get nine days off. After that, already in March, some Germans can enjoy additional days off because in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Berlin, International Women's Day is a public holiday.
Then for Easter, 16 days off can be obtained from eight used days, and after that comes May, which in Germany counts three public holidays – Labour Day, Ascension Day and Whit Monday, and all of them fall during the work week. In addition, in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, Corpus Christi falls on 30 May, so that is also an opportunity for another day off.
