As the number of years of service increases, earnings can be noticeably higher.

According to the current tax rules for the City of Zagreb, the starting gross salary of 1,372.56 euros corresponds to a net amount of approximately 983.50 euros for a worker with residence in Zagreb. When non-taxable monthly supplements are added to this, starting total earnings reach around 1,160 euros net.
Workers with 10 years of service can count on approximate net earnings of around 1,207 euros, while workers with 20 years of service can reach approximately 1,256 euros net.
In addition to the salary itself, Zagreb Holding offers a benefits package that is rare today among many employers. Workers are provided with a paid annual pass for city and intercity transport, vacation allowance, Christmas bonus, an additional annual award, and a gift for children under 15 on the occasion of Saint Nicholas. An Easter gift in kind is also provided, as well as all other rights defined by the collective agreement.
The positions cover a wide range of jobs within the waste management system, including waste collection and loading, cleaning and washing public areas, work at landfills, and auxiliary work in the processing of construction materials and emergency remediation. These are physically demanding jobs performed in all weather conditions, but they are crucial for the daily functioning of the city.
At the same time, Holding has a larger number of other open job postings on its official website, which clearly shows that even the largest city employer is facing challenges in the labor market.
Once, a job at Zagreb Holding was considered one of the most desirable in Zagreb. It was often said in public that a position could only be obtained through recommendations or connections, and job postings were perceived more as a formality than as a real employment opportunity. Today, the picture is significantly different. The labor shortage, the city authorities' desire for transparency, changes in the labor market, and competition from the private sector have taken their toll, so even Zagreb Holding no longer has the luxury of choosing among a large number of candidates.
This is also confirmed by the fact that Holding is currently hiring for numerous other positions. Open job postings are available for drivers, cooks, administrative and technical workers, clerks, engineers, and managerial positions, both within Holding itself and in affiliated companies such as Vodoopskrba i odvodnja, Gradska groblja, and other city companies.
Although Zagreb Holding remains one of the largest and most stable employers in the capital, the current advertisements clearly show that the situation is no longer ideal even for it. The labor market now dictates the conditions, and stability, a permanent contract, and reliable supplements are no longer enough on their own. That is precisely why Holding is communicating salaries, benefits, and working conditions ever more openly and clearly, trying to make these jobs attractive again in circumstances that have changed significantly over the past few years.
