Konzum and Retail Union Sign New Agreement: Higher Wages and Bigger Christmas Bonuses for Employees

Konzum and the Trade Union of Croatia (STH) have reached an agreement on a new Collective Agreement, the provisions of which will enter into force on January 1, 2026.

This significant agreement ensures further growth in earnings, an increase in the Christmas bonus, and the establishment of a more transparent payroll calculation system for all employees in retail, logistics, and the online business segment. The total annual value of this package of material rights amounts to an impressive 25 million euros, with which Konzum continues the continuity of investment in employees that began last year when a similar amount was invested.

The new Collective Agreement brings an increase in the basic gross salary for operational positions by an additional 100 euros, starting from January 2026. This represents the third salary increase at Konzum within just twelve months, following earlier increases that were implemented on January 1 and May 1, 2025.

A key novelty is also a change in the calculation of earnings: from 2026, the seniority supplement will no longer be a separate item and will be fully integrated into the basic salary. With this move, all other supplements, including compensation for Sunday work, night work, holiday work, overtime work, and others, will automatically be calculated on a higher base. The goal of this change is the long-term increase of employees' total earnings, as well as the simplification and greater transparency of the entire payroll calculation system.

As for the Christmas bonus, it is increasing from the current 230 euros to 360 euros, and employees will feel this increase already this year. In addition to the Christmas bonus, Konzum employees continue to be guaranteed all other material rights: an Easter bonus of 120 euros, vacation allowance in the amount of 230 euros, a child gift of 120 euros, a meal allowance of 100 euros, as well as a service award and solidarity assistance and support. The distribution of the new, increased Christmas bonuses begins as early as tomorrow, December 10.

The President of the Management Board of Konzum, Zoran Mitreski, pointed out that the third salary increase in one year clearly shows the company's continuous work on improving the material conditions of workers.

'With this Collective Agreement, we clearly confirm that employees are at the center of our business. Three salary increases in one year, a higher Christmas bonus, and more transparent payroll calculation are a strong message that at Konzum we are seriously investing in our employees and want the company's growth to be accompanied by the growth of their earnings. The new investment of 25 million euros annually is a major step forward for Konzum, but a necessary one if we are to retain and reward the people who carry our business every day,' Mitreski emphasized.

The President of the Trade Union of Croatia, Zlatica Štulić, emphasized that social dialogue goes beyond formality and that the signed collective agreement represents a mechanism for achieving better conditions for Konzum workers.

'Through collective bargaining, we managed to secure salary growth and a higher Christmas bonus, as well as other material and non-material rights. A strong union and an employer ready for dialogue represent the standard we want to build throughout the entire retail sector,' added Štulić.
