Retail Chain Lidl to Pay 13th Salary and Meal Allowance

One of the leading retail chains in Croatia, Lidl, continues to invest in its employees.

On Tuesday, the company informed its workers about the introduction of significant changes to the compensation system, which will take effect from February next year.

The biggest news concerns the introduction of a thirteenth salary, which will be paid to all employees in March, after the calculation for February. This decision further strengthens the financial position of workers, considering that their salaries were already increased by nine percent in January this year. Currently, the average net salary at Lidl amounts to a respectable 1300 euros.

In addition to the thirteenth salary, Lidl is also introducing a meal allowance, the popular gablec, from February. As learned by the portal Danica.hr, the company will pay workers a two-euro allowance for each worked day. Given that February has an average of 21 working days, workers can expect at least 42 euros in additional income for this purpose.

The maximum non-taxable amount of the meal allowance under the applicable regulations is 100 euros net per month.

All employees are entitled to this allowance, regardless of their position. The decision applies to workers and managers in stores, warehouses, and offices of all branches of the retail chain.

Lidl's business expansion is also visible in the growth in the number of employees. According to data from the end of February last year, the company had a total of 3409 workers, which is an increase of approximately 270 employees compared to the same period the year before.
