€300 Christmas Bonus in Ministries and Parliament: MPs Excluded
10/27/2026

For civil servants and employees in ministries and the Professional Service of the Croatian Parliament, a Christmas bonus of 300 euros is предусмотрено.
The provision on the basis of which it is paid does not apply to members of Parliament. The responses of 5 ministries and the Croatian Parliament on 19 October 2026 were published by net.hr.
Employment on Christmas is important
As explained by the Parliament, the right is granted to a civil servant or employee who is employed in the civil service on 25 December, regardless of how long the service has lasted. In the Professional Service of the Parliament, at the time the response was submitted, 262 civil servants and employees were employed.
How many employees are expected to receive the payment?
The Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure stated 775 civil servants and employees. If that number remains unchanged, it will allocate a total of 232,500 euros for Christmas bonuses of 300 euros.
The Ministry of Finance stated around 450 employees entitled to the Christmas bonus, and Branko Bačić's department announced payment for 762 civil servants and employees. The amount of 300 euros was also confirmed by Damir Habijan's ministry, referring to the extended application of rights from the collective agreement.
A new agreement may change the amount
The Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds noted that the amount of 300 euros applies if the contracting parties do not agree on a different amount before the adoption of the state budget for the following year. Therefore, the published responses leave open the possibility of change through a new agreement.
According to the collected responses, the basis for this year's payment is 300 euros per person, subject to the condition of employment on Christmas. The information on the Christmas bonus in Parliament refers to its civil servants and employees, while members of Parliament are not covered by that provision.
