Average Net Salary in Bosnia and Herzegovina Around €870: Croatia’s Average Higher by €673
10/28/2026

The average net salary in Bosnia and Herzegovina for August 2026 amounted to 1,701 KM, or 869.71 euros.
The average gross salary, before the deduction of taxes and contributions, was 2,646 KM, or 1,352.88 euros.
The data on employee salaries in companies, institutions, and state bodies were published by the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We converted the amounts according to the fixed exchange rate under which one euro equals 1.95583 KM and rounded them to 2 decimal places.
Salaries higher than last year, but lower than in July
The average net salary was 7.7% higher than a year earlier. When price increases are taken into account, its purchasing power rose by 2.7%. This means that the growth in the amount paid did not entirely bring a greater ability to buy. Compared with July, the salary fell by 1.8%, and after taking price changes into account, the decline amounted to 2.8%.
Highest average in information and communications
The highest average net salary among the published activities was in information and communications, 2,252 KM or 1,151.43 euros. The lowest was in accommodation and hospitality, 1,188 KM or 607.41 euros. In trade, the average amounted to 1,385 KM or 708.14 euros, and in manufacturing industry 1,383 KM or 707.12 euros.
Croatian average amounts to 1,543 euros
According to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, the Croatian average net salary for the same month amounted to 1,543 euros, or 673.29 euros more than the converted BiH average.
The comparison is approximate because the coverage and calculation method differ. BiH, for example, excludes members of the defense sector from salary statistics, while the CBS recalculates the salaries of part-time employees to full-time equivalent.
Fewer employed than the month before
According to provisional data, there were 847,545 employed persons in BiH in August, or 5,058 fewer than in July. This is a monthly decline of 0.6%, while the number of employed persons remained approximately the same compared with August last year.
More than 311,000 people registered with employment offices
There were 311,107 unemployed persons in the records of employment services. Their number increased by 0.5% compared with July, but was 3.4% lower than a year earlier. This is the number registered with employment offices, which differs from the unemployment estimate obtained through household surveys.
The average does not describe everyone's salary
Annual salary growth is not yet accompanied by a higher number of employed persons. Trade and manufacturing industry employ the most people, and their average salaries are noticeably below the national average. Therefore, the figure of about 870 euros should be read together with the differences among activities, and not as the amount received by most workers.
