Greece Introduces a Six-Day Workweek

IN JULY, a six-day workweek is being introduced in Greece, and the obligation will apply to public services, utility companies, banks, companies, organizations, and agricultural holdings that have so far practiced a five-day workweek, writes inNewspaper.

According to the law, the workday of additional working time must not last longer than eight hours, and overtime is not permitted. This provision, which comes into force on July 1, does not have to be followed by employers of companies or holdings that by their nature are not continuous, that is, have so far not worked five days a week. There are other exceptions as well.

As for the restrictions, an employee on the sixth working day must not work longer than 8 hours, and overtime is not permitted. In the event that companies or agricultural holdings have five-day night shifts (00:00-06:00), then on the sixth day they must not work the night shift.
