HRT Raises Salaries: Workers Get Better Conditions

At Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), a salary increase has been confirmed after an addendum to the Collective Agreement was signed, which will bring significant changes for all employees of the company.

The Croatian Journalists' Union reported that the base for salary calculation is increasing by almost ten percent, according to the portal index.hr, which compared with the beginning of 2024 represents a total increase of 26 percent, while since the start of negotiations the increase reaches almost 46 percent.

In addition to the increase in the base, the new addendum to the Collective Agreement also agreed improvements to employees' material rights. Among them are higher service awards, increased severance payments upon retirement, and one-off annual support payments. The employer also committed to completing the new Rulebook on the systematization of job positions by the end of 2026, while the unions announced the continuation of negotiations on workers' non-material rights.

Union representatives emphasize that this step forward is the result of the joint work of the representative unions at HRT, including the Croatian Journalists' Union, the HRT Technical Union, and the Independent Union of HRT, which actively participated in the negotiations. Their role in securing better working conditions is especially important in the public media service, which must remain independent, professional, and stable.

As they point out, fair valuation of workers and secure working conditions are key to maintaining the quality and stability of HRT, and the new addendum to the Collective Agreement is a concrete step toward that.
