Sausages and mulled wine at the Split Advent will be allowed to cost no more than 3 euros, and fritule 4 euros.
Other cities are also introducing price caps on some food and drinks to make holiday spending easier for visitors. RTL Danas reports on this, and the text published on net.hr was written by Kristina Čirjak.
Split sets maximum prices for the first time
The Split restrictions will apply to selected products at Advent stalls organized by the city company Žnjan, at locations such as the Riva, Prokurative, Đardin, and Stobreč. The city decided on this move partly because of last year's reactions to prices. RTL's interviewees welcomed the decision, stating that the expensive offer had previously discouraged them from visiting.
In Pula, fritule and mulled wine up to 3 euros
In Pula, a hot dog in a bun, a hamburger, and cod will have to be offered at a price of up to 5 euros. For fritule, Christmas cookies, mulled wine, and hot chocolate, the maximum price will be 3 euros.
Restrictions were also announced by Osijek, which has yet to publish the list of products and their highest permitted prices, while Poreč is already among the cities introducing such a measure.
Zagreb will not cap prices
According to information from RTL Danas, Zagreb, Bjelovar, Velika Gorica, Zadar, and Dubrovnik do not plan restrictions. Visitors therefore cannot expect the same rules at all Advent events, even when buying similar food or drinks.
The restrictions do not cover the entire menu, but only selected basic products. Hospitality providers will be able to charge for the rest of the offer according to their own price lists. For visitors, this means the possibility of a more affordable meal or drink in some cities, but the final cost of going out will still depend on what they order.
