IF YOU ARE THINKING about moving to a new city, you might want to consider the results of this research. The research company The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) publishes an annual report ranking the best and worst cities to live in over the past year.

Best cities

In this research, cities were evaluated and scored in five categories: stability, culture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. For the third time in the past five years, Vienna took first place among the best cities to live in. It received maximum scores for stability, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. It is followed by Copenhagen and Zurich, which shares the position with Calgary.  

In fifth place is another Canadian city, Vancouver, and the top ten also includes Geneva, Frankfurt, Toronto, Amsterdam, Osaka, and Melbourne. The report states that medium-sized cities in wealthy countries generally performed exceptionally well in the research.

Worst cities

Alongside the best cities to live in, they also analyzed which were the worst. The fewest points in their analysis went to Damascus in Syria, followed by Lagos in Nigeria and Tripoli in Libya. The report attributes their scores to civil unrest, terrorism, and conflict in each of the countries.
