STEM engineers: Jobs of the future

Scientists and associates of the Academy of Technical Sciences and the Ruđer Bošković Institute are conducting teacher training on disruptive technologies that are already shaping the world of tomorrow today. They emphasize the importance of STEM, that is, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These are fields that form the foundation of the modern world and are key to all the innovations we see around us. Deep changes lie ahead in all aspects of professional evolution, ways of working, and adaptation to the work environment of the future.

In this context, as part of the MULTI-STEM project, a series of free STEM workshops for high school students is being organized with the aim of early recognition of their potential and guiding them toward the knowledge and skills that will be crucial for the labor market of the future.

As part of the program, an inspiring lecture and workshop entitled 'Who is talking when no one is speaking?' is also announced. This workshop is focused on the topic of IoT (Internet of Things) and electromagnetic waves, explaining how smart devices in our homes, cars, and cities communicate with each other, and how this invisible communication is changing the world around us. The concept of the workshop encourages reflection on invisible communications, technologies, and processes that are already shaping our everyday life and professional development today.

Through concrete examples, students will discover how data is created and travels, from collection via sensors to the moment when the system makes decisions on its own. They will learn how the Internet of Things connects different STEM fields, physics, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and in what way invisible processes become real, usable systems. This approach encourages understanding and reflection on technologies, communications, and processes that are already affecting our everyday life and professional development.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 12:45 to 13:45 on the premises of the Technical School Ruđer Bošković, Getaldićeva St. 4, Zagreb.

This opportunity for direct learning from top experts from Croatia is open to all high school students, but due to great interest, registration is mandatory. The registration deadline is Monday, December 16! Don't miss the opportunity to dive into the secrets of future technologies.
