Data Released: Average Salary in Zagreb Reaches €1,633
09/17/2025

The average net salary in legal entities in Zagreb amounted to 1,633 euros in June, according to data from the City Office for the Economy.
This is a decrease of 1.2 percent compared to May, but also an increase of 8.2 percent compared to June last year, writes index.hr. The median salary, which more accurately shows the actual distribution of income, was 1,396 euros, meaning that half of employees in Zagreb had a lower, and half a higher, net salary than that amount.
The biggest differences in income can be seen among sectors. The highest average net salary in Zagreb was paid to workers in the crude petroleum and natural gas extraction sector and amounted to 2397 euros. On the other hand, at the bottom of the list are workers in the manufacture of leather and related products, where the average was only 959 euros.
Comparing the data with the national average, it is clear that Zagreb residents still have the advantage. The average net salary in Croatia for June amounted to 1444 euros, or 189 euros less than in Zagreb. This confirms that the capital remains above the national average, although the differences among sectors within Zagreb itself remain extremely large.
The data also show movements in gross amounts. The average gross salary in Zagreb in June amounted to 2332 euros, which is a decrease of 1.3 percent compared to May, but at the same time an increase of 8.5 percent compared to June last year. This means that the salary growth trend is still present, although a slight decline was recorded the month before.
These indicators once again confirm that Croatia, and especially Zagreb, is in a period of income growth, despite monthly fluctuations. However, the differences among sectors remain very pronounced, which clearly indicates an uneven distribution of income among activities.
