Ford to Cut More Than 1,000 Jobs
03/10/2023

AMERICAN car manufacturer Ford plans to cut 1,100 jobs at its factory in Valencia, Spain, a company spokesperson said today.
The layoffs are an integral part of the announced changes in production in Europe, the spokesperson said. The factory in Valencia currently employs 5,800 workers.
They announce “constructive cooperation with unions”
“Ford will cooperate constructively with union partners in order to mitigate the impact of the layoffs on employees, their families, and the local community,” the spokesperson stated. The company has decided that it will no longer assemble the Galaxy minivan and the S-Max station wagon in Valencia.
Last year, Ford announced that it was postponing investments in production in Spain due to “revised prospects for Europe”, but confirmed that it should begin producing electric vehicles at the Spanish factory by the end of the decade.
The production of electric vehicles will entail a reduction in the number of jobs, Ford said when presenting the project. The American company has already announced that it will cut 2,300 jobs in Germany and 1,000 in Britain. From 2030, they plan to sell only electric cars in the EU.
